Savings on Shorts!

Nordstrom is having it's huge sale and it ends on August first! I've popped into Nordstrom during the sale twice. One item that is a total steal is the Lily White Pocket Shorts. I have three pairs now: a red floral pattern, a Mesopotamia brown/tan pattern, and most currently a tie-dye purple white and orange pattern.

This is an example of the shorts in the color Black Multi

These are only $13.90 and they are very comfortable!

Another pair of shorts I love and are super comfortable are the Knit Cuffed Shorts from Delia's. I have them in grey, and I was going to buy them in black also but they fit differently... Odd, I know. But on the Website they say they are $24.50 but I think, emphasis on the think they are cheaper. Also, at the store if you try on jeans you get a nice coupon.

Guru Goof-Up!

As you can tell there have been some changes to the blog, such as the background and some coloring. I was extremely disappointed in myself for making those switches because I couldn't find the perfect one that was legible for all. So, hopefully you will all agree that the one now is average enough!

One of the many...

One of the many pet peeves I have is when you think a book is going to be interesting and you predict the plot and the characters, and it ends up differently. I am experiencing that currently in the novel I am reading, and it is chapping me, quite badly.

Speaking of reading, I am disappointed in myself for not reading enough books this summer. To plead my case, I've read a some... but not enough.

Another pet peeve is when people say they don't enjoy reading, and they throw a hissy fit because they have to read a book. Honestly, I have no faith for this generation...

Shoes!

Recently, with the Summer closing in on us I have been lounging around in my pajamas most of the time which is something that needs to change. With school appearing on the corner we just turned left on, it's time for shoes for the new school year! Wohoo. Party. Party.

"No one is too young to wear wedges!" Don't remember where I pulled that one out of but somewhere. It is so true, wedges give you that height boost to shorted people such as I and are still comfortable and easy to walk in.

Now enough with the wedges now boots!

I can't wait to wear these, I have once. I need to keep these hidden form my sister Natalie or else she'll nab them and scuff them!

I want these in every color! Mainly the Black and Cream

A fun little tip! A great place to purchase shoes is DSW. When you are these I suggest you go to the back of the store in the clearance section! Great deals, great deals!

Rent

Mimi & Roger
Any role, in any play? Mimi Márquez, from Rent. I would choose Mimi not only because of her risque dancing but because she has some of my personal favorite songs including: "Light My Candle" "Out Tonight" and "Another Day" she also has great chunks in " La Vie Bohème A & B". Plus, Mimi's love interest is Roger Davis, said to be the heart throb and most attractive. But, personally I like Mark Cohen, the independent film maker and Roger's roommate.

Mark Cohen

Rent is one of my favorite musicals out there, if you didn't already know from my bursts of singing, quoting, or from my biography on this blog. I knew about Rent when I had heard the movie was coming out in 2005. I was a young girl, at the age of 9. I didn't see the movie though, until 2011. I knew the hit song "Seasons of Love" and that was about all. I started listening to Pandora the online radio station, and while I was listening to tunes from "Hairspray" and "Joseph" I came across "Light My Candle" from Rent. What can I say? I fell in love with it. I started listening to a Rent station on Pandora and found more marvelous songs. One day while browsing at Target I saw the DVD Rent, and so I purchased it. Once, I got to my home I popped in the DVD and feel into the wonderous abyss of Rent. I found a friend who also enjoys Rent, and often times her and I converse over it. We also sing duets and quote lines... Fun times! So, pretty much that is my story of Rent. It would be a dream come true to see the Broadway play Rent, but that's not particularly feasible.

Songs from Rent I enjoy include:

"One Song Glory"                   "Tango Maureen"               "Today 4 U"

''Rent"                                     "Light my Candle"               "Take Me or Leave Me"

"Another Day"                         "Out Tonight"                      "La Vie Boheme A & B"

"Seasons Of Love"                     And pretty much the whole rest of the soundtrack!

Gives me chills!

Holly's Guide To Making Friends...

I might have limited friends but the way to finding true friends is what I have resting under my belt. Here goes nothing.

Way Number 1.) If the person is the opposite gender of you (runs more smoothly if you are a girl and the attempt for a friend is a male) simply go up and feel their hair. If they have no problem and shrug it off that's a sign of friendship. On the other hand if they say cruel words and run or hit hand away that could be an issue... Just could.

Number 2.) To make a friend, simply send a facebook chat/or message. Other social network site also work too. If they reply, and keep a nice steady conversation a bond is born. If they one word you or flat out ignore you then that's a problem.

Number 3.) Probably the most sane idea, meeting a person through another friend. Casual small talk, a joke or two, maybe even a slip of digits.

Number 4.) Sane like number 3, introduce yourself to fresh faces by joining an activity you enjoy. Examples including; Theater, Sports, Chess Club and various other places.

Number 5.) Casually walking up to someone in the school yard or classroom and engaging in conversation is a way to make friends.

I suppose the person with limited friends shouldn't be talking about making friends but these are simple ways to kindle a friendship.

It's the 1970's?

Hello! Hello! I really need a regimen for my blogging because it always seems I push it aside! Blogging came before my YouTube videos so I need to give it some respect!

Speaking of YouTube, I have recently posted some new videos and gained some new subscribers! Whenever I get an email for YouTube I get so excited! I strongly encourage you if you are fond of my blog to check out my videos.

http://www.youtube.com/user/hollyholly22?feature=mhee

The 1970's summer fashion is coming back! 2011 is the new 1970 who would have guessed?

One of the 70's stand-outs is the Maxi Dress. Lately, this trend is sweeping the nation way faster than the Swine Flue. Almost every time I exit my household I see a female in a Maxi Dress. Personally, I do not own one. Mainly because I'm to short!

Instead of the heals shown above! Try wedges! You are never to young or old for wedges!

Another item coming back is the pleated skirt! I have one pleated skirt and it is pink with polka dots. I got my pleated skirt at Forever 21 for $9! The pleated skirt may scream school girl if its a neutral color but if its a bright popping color it yells "Fabulous"!

Too short for a school girl oww oww!

I love the detailing!

Floral and pleated? 1970's baby!

Next 2011 trend with the 1970 feel is the full length jumper! I do not own one, but my best friend Baili does!

                                                            Wedges! And floppy hat!

Other 1970 inspired articles include:

Floppy Brimmed Hats                              And color! Lots of color!

Platform Wedges

Floral Belts

Have a nice summer! And I'll post soon :)!

Summer?

Buenos dias! It is sunny this summer's day, which this solstice is a rarity! First, before I get to the fun part I have to say something that might have possibly been pestering you. It was a debate for me to decide whether or not to capitalize the "The" in "It's The Geek Guru". Properly, in the wonderful world of grammar it would not rightfully be capitalized, but I broke the rules just to give it a little pizazz and to make it look bold and in your face. So, I apologize if that agitated you, and I would appreciate if you would adjust for the sake of festivity!

Now to kick off the merry times... Nail Polish! Usually, I'm not a big fan with nail polish, but I found my absolute all time favorite! After, a recent visit to a new nail salon and a joyous experience I found this marine color. Eh, marine isn't the correct adjective to describe it, but oh well I didn't want to use the word "Blue". This color is called "Dating a Royal" and it is by no other than OPI. I've heard blue nails are "in" but I haven't really seen that. I authentically recogomend this shade to anyone and everyone! The downfall on this beafic tint is that not many beauty stores carry it. I tried my local Ulta and no luck, but I still will try other retail stores and if worse comes to worse the internet.(cue dramatic music) Dun dun dun dun

Well, well still for the summer time, my number one trend happens to be no other than my favorite the high waisted shorts and skirts. (and throw in a pant or two)

I have this very skirt ( Forever 21 $15.80)

"Make Your Own Kind of Music!"

There is no better feeling than making an art, a craft, a musical piece, or something else and having people compliment you. Even if the only person who compliments you is yourself... What?! Yes. Oh, OK. Well, arts and crafts have always been a hobby and usually I tend to go through phases where I make a lot of creations. Recently, I have been making bracelets which my first big obsession of that began late 2010. Also, I have been knitting, which indeed I mentioned before.

All those bracelets I made, except for the brown band with the star.

Bracelets are fun and real basic to accomplish!

Creating music or an art, gives you this feeling that is too perplexing to describe, yet it is something like the feeling of after the gym or after a cat nap! Accomplishment... Yes, Indeed. No matter your passion sewing or theatrics do whatever makes you happy!

This post was inspired by a song by Mama Cass " Make Your Own Kind of Music. If you got sucked into the fantastic phenomenon of the television program "Lost", you may recognize this song. Therefore, that is where I discovered this song from!   (Skip to 45 seconds on this video!

Now to feed my Vincent (from lost) obsession...
Doodle Whig!

What a dood!

Lego little Vincent!

Full cast minus the important Aaron and Vincent!

Spring is here... Well it has been for a little while now I just never got around to gathering new spring items in preparation for the sniffely season! Recently, I have been shopping but primarily purchases accessories but skimped on the clothing. Which isn't very wise, but you do what you do.. and its hard to change. Since splurging on Blackberry season jewelry and hair ornaments I am left with the choice of making stuff in my closet left over from winter work! Like, I had mentioned a few posts down, I am still really into fedora's and I picked up some new hats! So exciting!

New Fedora! Floral Print very summer yet spring!
Goes with an assemblage of clothing, do to the many colors it has!

A better view of the fetching fedora!

Affirmative, the fashionable fedoras are beloved to me. Whenever, one is in sight it is no surprise I zoom over there and inspect!

Many Celebrities love to wear Fedora Hats!

Even men can work a Fedora! but not all men, just some :)

Dark grey, with a black stripe! This one gives myself the sensation of a darker more edgy style! That is probably why I do enjoy it!

Keep in mind Fedoras aren't for everyone, depending on your hair length and volume determines  the good look. Also, face shape contributes.
Indeed the image is a little unique but to me a hat is a hat and every head piece shall be valued! This next head topping , is more of a mix of a fisherman's hat and a sun hat. Escaping from my Fedora Fix, when I next spotted this tam o' shanter it was a prime example of love at first sight! To add to the wonders of this headdressesque item it was 30% off! Yay!

Enough for the hats for now! Currently, I am enjoying sporting the high waisted pants with a shirt tucked it. I feel it makes my short legs look longer, while this style on others makes them experiecne the reverse effect. I mainly adore patterned high waisted pants but solids are hellacious as well.

High waisted shorts for those warm days! Loving the buttons!

My high wasted sailor pants :) one of my favorite outfits!!!

<>
On the runway, high wasted pants are seen with a Bohmemian Top and a stylish belt! High pants trend from the 70's is coming back! Oh yes!!!

Critics said this was unattractive, but I think its cute! A nice pair of jeans and a fun vintage Tee!

*Caution* while attempting to wear highwaisted pants/ shorts make sure you are wear proper undergarmets! Also, make sure they are not pulled up to high, so a camel toe doesn't form!

In the spring and everyother time I love to wear headbands in a hippie style!

A flowered headband, a flower child, What? Ya I went there.

Katie Cassidy, Hippie style!

Oh my gosh! This is darling! I want it!

Similar to mine! YAYA

*Warning* Hippie Headbands are not for everyone so attempt see.

Next off is an outfit I love! I wore this to a funeral :( but the outfit is still great! I would have to say this is a vintage option.

Doggy Dress, Vintage Sweater, black tights, and wedge black heels!

DANABAILEY* I love the whole thing!

What a pose! ;)
